European and National Funding Opportunities

To access European and national funds for purchasing briquetting and pelletizing lines, the following aspects must be considered:

  1. First, determine the type of raw material to be used, as the production line configuration varies based on the raw material.

The types of raw materials include:

    • Wood waste, sawdust, wooden pallets, energy willow, etc.
    • Plant residues after harvesting: straw, rapeseed by-products, corn stalks, soybeans, etc.
    • Feed materials such as alfalfa, hay, cereals, etc.
  2. It is important to note that for heating pellets, only clean sawdust without bark should be used. Pellets made from plant waste should only be utilized in boilers equipped with mobile/self-cleaning burners. Additionally, straw pellets can serve as animal feed.

The activities that require authorization from the ONRC for briquetting and/or pelletizing, as well as granulation, depend on the type of raw material and the products obtained:

CAEN 1629 - Manufacture of other products from wood; manufacture of articles made of wood; manufacture of articles made of plastics, straw, and other plaited vegetable materials (production of briquettes and pellets from all categories of raw materials, excluding fodder).
CAEN 3821 - Treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste (manufacture of briquettes and pellets from all categories of raw materials excluding feedingstuffs).
CAEN 1091 - Manufacture of prepared animal feeds for farm animals (production of animal feed pellets).
Almost all project calls for European funds include eligible activities under CAEN categories 1629 or 3821.
